Ambiance: Beautiful fall morning with a chill in the air. The patio usually packed, today indoors seemed more desirable to clientele and staff...and of course, our Velcro pup was with us. We gladly exiled ourselves to the empty patio, with gusts of wind, flying leaves, & steady stream of stop 'n go traffic along Route 4. It couldn't have been better! Indoors tightly packed booths & tables, family atmosphere, and servers buzzing about. Service: Given our solitary position, we found the service to be forgetful with regard to the hearty soles outside. Coffee request came twice and finally order taken. However, my wife received the wrong plate, which was quickly corrected. I just hope the other indoor customer did not receive the plate all ready sampled! Food: I had the standard Unionville Special breakfast plate per following options; 2 eggs over easy, 2 slices of pumpkin French toast, 2 slices of bacon. A side order of bacon to share, including Velcro Pup. My wife egg/cheese Unionville Special Quesadilla, With well done home fries and bacon. All in all the FOOD was very good and not a crumb left. The SERVICE a bit scattered and slow, but we were allowed the Patio and all is forgiven. The AMBIANCE indoors a bit tighter than this diner would like and the VALUE, well like everywhere else these dazes, not easy on the pocket.

We arrived fairly close to the 10pm closing time but were welcomed with open arms and great food! Highly recommend the cherry pie & the coconut cream pie. The all-day breakfast was just what we were looking for - hash browns were outstanding!! Our waitress was superb, helpful, and although she said she was new to the job, she provided the type of service that'll keep folks coming back. We were visiting from out of town but if I lived in this area, I would be a "regular" at the Unionville Family Restaurant!!

My wife and I finally tried this restaurant and it was fabulous. We both had one of tonight's special, the fried seafood platter. Perfectly prepared, very generous portions and delicious. The breading was light and flavorful. We each had pie for desert. I consider myself a connoisseur of pie and these pies were awesome. I found out that the owner used to own The Pie Plate on Wolcott Rd in Waterbury many years ago. I grew up in that area and was a frequent customer, in fact that's where my love of pie began some 50 +- years ago. The restaurant was very clean and neat, but it was the service that put this experience over the top. Darlene was our waitress and i couldn't ask for a more pleasant, personable and efficient server. We will be back for sure.

I've heard amazing things about this restaurant so I had to go see for myself. All I can say is OMG the food is very plentiful the menu is huge choices. I had sausage biscuits and gravy and absolutely the best I have had. When I went it was very busy but you never waited for anything. Waitresses were very attentive to everyone. Food was delivered hot and in a short period of time. Would HIGHLY recommend everyone to give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Looking back, the Unionville Family Restaurant was exactly what I knew it would be - a former Friendly's with comfort food and considerably more alcohol. Oh, and outdoor seating. The decor includes photos of the Farmington area of old, and the main dining area has booths on each wall with tables in the middle. They like to push the booth seating. I went with the classic burger, and WOW. The patty was about the size of a plate, it was HUGE! The waffle fries were a bit extra but more unique and well fried. It may be the best value for my money I've gotten since before the plague. There isn't anything crazy on the menu, but it will have something everyone wants and enjoys.

"Nobody looked any finer Or was more of a hit at the Parkway Diner" (Billy Joel) Pick any New Jersey or Long Island diner you'd care to pick. I'd stack up the Union Family Restaurant's massive multi-page menu against your candidate's any day of the week. They serve breakfast all day, and if you like pancakes, you'll flip your stack here, 'cause they have like 20 different pancakes. I had a crock of chili and a big side salad - each was $4.75, which I thought were very reasonable prices. The chili was very good -not spicy and almost "sweet". I normally like super spicy but this version was yummy. And that "side" salad was immense -I took half of it home. My wife ordered a cheese omelet with home fries and rye toast for $9.95. The portion of fries was gigantic! Our server Nancy was attentive and friendly. All in all we had a great lunch in a very nice diner-like restaurant.

First time here and it was great. My friend was hungry after walking a few miles and I told her why not try this place. All Of the staff was super friendly, you got greeted , and service was good and quick. Hand sanitizer were at the entrance and at each table which was nice. This place is always pretty busy. They also have a nice outdoor seating area for when the weather gets nicer. My friend ordered an omelette and I just had a plain burger. It was 7oz. I did get my burger bun less and no cheese. The burger did need a little seasoning or something but I was ok with eating it that way. The deluxe came with fries abs regular only came with lettuce, cokes and tomato. The menu is pretty big. Breakfast is served all day, lunch , dinner, entrees, sandwiches , cocktail drinks and dessert. Prices were pretty good too. If you want something very casual, not expensive and breakfast any time, check it out if you're in the area.
